Roovet Articles
Roovet Articles is a MediaWiki-based encyclopedia and public knowledge platform within the Roovet network. It publishes informational pages about people, organizations, businesses, music, technology, psychology, media, culture, places, fictional works, Roovet services, and other subjects.
The platform combines reader-facing articles with revision histories, source editing, permanent links, page metadata, categories, internal links, citations, and connections to structured information. Its public interface also includes topic directories, article-discovery tools, page-quality indicators, correction links, and editorial resources.[1]
Overview
Roovet Articles is designed to organize narrative information in an encyclopedia-style format. Each article has its own address and can include sections, references, templates, images, categories, related pages, and metadata for search engines and social sharing.
The site is built with MediaWiki, the free and open-source wiki software originally developed for Wikipedia and now used by many independent knowledge projects.[2] Roovet Articles uses MediaWiki's page-history and revision system while applying its own visual design, templates, structured metadata, article-quality tools, and editorial organization.
Subject coverage
The platform contains articles across multiple broad subject areas, including:
- people and biographies;
- companies, brands, and organizations;
- music, artists, songs, albums, and discographies;
- books, comics, films, television, and fictional characters;
- psychology, education, technology, and business;
- cities, institutions, events, and public topics;
- Roovet platforms, products, services, and creative properties.
Coverage varies by article. Some pages are detailed and heavily sourced, while others remain developing entries that require additional references, images, context, or editorial review.
Article structure
A typical Roovet Articles page can contain an introductory summary followed by sections explaining the subject's background, history, activities, significance, reception, related topics, and references.
Pages may also use Roovet-specific templates for:
- search-engine titles and descriptions;
- short descriptions;
- article-quality notices;
- infoboxes and summary tables;
- spoiler notices;
- navigation;
- categories and related pages;
- structured-data connections.
MediaWiki automatically records revisions, editors, timestamps, and differences between saved versions. Readers can use page histories and permanent revision links to examine how an article changed.
Editorial and verification model
Roovet Articles distinguishes between publishing information and verifying it. A page being present on the platform does not automatically establish that every statement on it is complete, current, or independently confirmed.
Articles are strongest when important factual statements are supported by reliable sources. Government records, academic publications, established news organizations, official institutional documents, books, and other authoritative sources may be appropriate depending on the topic.
First-party sources can be useful for describing what an organization publishes about itself, identifying an official product, confirming a release, or documenting a platform feature. Independent sources are generally more useful when evaluating reputation, disputes, significance, impact, or claims requiring outside scrutiny.
Living-person biographies require particular care. Unsourced or weakly sourced statements that could harm a person's reputation should not be added merely to make an article longer.
Roovet Data integration
Roovet Articles works alongside Roovet Data, a structured knowledge base for reusable facts and relationships across the Roovet network. Roovet Data can organize entities such as people, companies, creative works, services, locations, official websites, identifiers, aliases, and relationships.[3]
Narrative articles and structured data serve different purposes. An article explains a topic in readable prose and provides context. A structured-data record stores individual statements and relationships in a machine-readable form. Connections between the two can help maintain consistent names, links, and entity relationships.
Relationship to other Roovet services
Roovet Articles is one component of the larger Roovet network. The main Roovet website provides search and discovery across web and platform content.[4]
Roovet Stories is oriented toward author publishing, commentary, features, and reader engagement rather than encyclopedia-style reference pages.[5] Roovet Data focuses on structured facts, while Roovet Articles focuses on readable reference content.
Other public Roovet properties include Roovet Social for community interaction, Roovet Books for books and comics, Roovet Watch for video, and Roovet Academy for courses and training.[6][7][8][9]
Readers can discover content through search, topic pages, categories, links between related articles, the all-pages directory, and the random-article feature. Individual pages provide tools for viewing source text, revision history, page information, permanent links, incoming links, and related changes.
These tools support transparency by allowing readers to inspect the page's current source, identify prior revisions, and link to a stable version when citing an article.
Limitations and ongoing development
Roovet Articles contains pages at different stages of development. A technically complete page may still need stronger citations, more balanced coverage, improved prose, better images, or clearer connections to related subjects.
Article length alone is not a measure of quality. Disambiguation pages, portals, navigation pages, spoiler-policy pages, and concise definitions may appropriately remain short. Editorial improvements should focus on accuracy, usefulness, sourcing, organization, and clarity rather than adding unsupported text to meet an arbitrary word count.
