Razhaku is a fictional character in the Tribal Universe. He is the son of Nim’Raza and Zuberi Ka’ Nalo and appears in Rimitorry: Daughter of the Dark Alpha and Tribal Bloody Beginnings: The Rise of the Dark Alpha by Tony James Nelson II, writing as Tribal Brown.

Razhaku is an infant or very young child during the events of Rimitorry: Daughter of the Dark Alpha. He lives with the ruling family of the Ka’Rukan Empire at the Six-Flame Palace and is most closely associated with its sixth-tower household. The narrative repeatedly places him in the arms of one of his parents while political councils, military journeys and violent confrontations unfold around them.

Although Razhaku does not yet speak or fight, he has an important emotional role in the story. His presence reveals the protective and private sides of Nim’Raza and Zuberi, two adults otherwise known for silence, calculation and controlled violence. The novels do not provide a translation, title, surname or ceremonial meaning for the name. Characters usually identify him through his family relationship, referring to him as Nim’Raza’s son, Zuberi’s son or their son.

These descriptions are especially significant because the narrative distinguishes blood, claim and household membership. Sura is shaped by Nim’Raza’s teaching, and Va’Lira is claimed by the sixth tower, but Razhaku is the child born from Nim’Raza’s own blood. The three children leave under the same protection while representing different forms of family.

Biography

Life in the Six-Flame Palace

Razhaku spends his known early life at the Six-Flame Palace in Khar’Rukan.

The palace is the center of the Ka’Rukan ruling family and the home of children connected to the Six through blood, rescue, claim and upbringing. Razhaku belongs most directly to the sixth-tower household of Nim’Raza and Zuberi.

The novel does not narrate his birth or identify the room in which he is raised. By the time he first appears, both parents are already accustomed to carrying and protecting him.

First chronological appearance

Razhaku first appears chronologically in “The Brandy-Eyed Girl,” the seventh chapter of Rimitorry: Daughter of the Dark Alpha.

After The Dark Alpha returns to Khar’Rukan carrying the young Zafira, the palace family gathers in the courtyard. Nim’Raza is positioned on the upper steps with Razhaku against her shoulder. His presence places a protected palace infant beside a newly rescued child who has arrived covered in the blood and ash of a destroyed village.

The moment also establishes Razhaku within the visual structure of the ruling family. The six adult powers gather around Zafira while Nim’Raza holds her own son above the courtyard.

Abduction of Zafira

When Zafira is later taken from inside the palace walls, Nim’Raza emerges from the sixth tower carrying Razhaku in one arm and a blade in the other.

The image combines her two central responsibilities: protecting her child and responding to a threat against the wider family. She does not leave Razhaku behind before joining the other leaders in the garden, but she remains ready to use violence immediately.

Root-Eater war council

After Zafira is recovered, the Ka’Rukan leaders call the palace children into the high hall to discuss the Root-Eater threat.

Nim’Raza stands apart from the others while Razhaku sleeps against her chest in a dark sling. He is small enough to sleep through the strategy discussion and too young to understand the kidnapping, retaliatory campaign or political consequences being considered around him.

Razhaku’s presence does not distract Nim’Raza from the council. While holding him, she analyzes the enemy’s expectations and warns that the Root-Eaters want Ka’Rukan to respond with visible, predictable force. The scene presents motherhood and command as simultaneous parts of her identity.

The Calling horns

Razhaku is present in the high hall when the island’s Calling horns sound.

Zuberi enters carrying him openly. This is unusual because Zuberi normally treats visible love as information that enemies could use. The possibility of losing Nim’Raza causes him to abandon that caution and hold Razhaku close in front of the assembled family.

Nim’Raza identifies the Calling as Terra Commander. The Calling does not simply select her by name; it opens a path that qualified survivors may attempt to claim through the Arena. Her decision to answer creates the possibility that Razhaku will leave his birthplace and his father.

Journey to the Arena

The Ka’Rukan family, the Red Heirs and a full military force accompany Nim’Raza toward the Arena.

Razhaku initially travels with Zuberi. When the route becomes more dangerous, Nim’Raza takes him. The transfer shows the parents adapting his protection to changing conditions without needing to debate their trust in one another.

The journey passes through jungle, mud, rock and territory used by attackers seeking to weaken Ka’Rukan before Nim’Raza reaches the Arena.

Battle at Red Stone Pass

At Red Stone Pass, carrion fighters ambush the procession from the cliffs and tunnels.

Nim’Raza dismounts with Razhaku still in her arms. When three attackers rush toward her, she moves him higher against her shoulder, draws a blade and defeats the immediate threat one-handed. Later, when failed Chamber survivors are released from cages, she keeps Razhaku against her chest while the six adult powers form a defensive center.

Nim’Raza’s decision to fight while holding him is not presented as carelessness. Within the conditions of Murder Island, her own control and proximity are treated as the safest available protection. Razhaku remains physically unharmed throughout the attack.

The Arena

When the family enters the Arena, Zuberi walks on Nim’Raza’s left with Razhaku in his arms. This places father and son beside her immediately before she must fight alone.

Zuberi holds Razhaku while Nim’Raza faces a succession of opponents. Razhaku wakes when Zuberi rises suddenly after one fighter cuts Nim’Raza. During the final match, he begins to fuss because Zuberi is gripping him too tightly.

These reactions communicate the danger indirectly. Razhaku cannot understand the rules of the Calling, but he experiences the fear and tension through his father’s body.

Nim’Raza wins the final fight by forcing her opponent to surrender. When the Arena keeper announces that she has answered Terra, Zuberi stands with Razhaku against his chest. He joins Conri, Utrea, Kavumo and Knargz in placing a fist over his heart in acknowledgment of her victory.

Departure through the Arena gate

After the victory, Zuberi brings Razhaku to Nim’Raza.

She takes their son and presses her forehead to his. Razhaku is too young to understand that his mother has won the right to leave Murder Island or that the victory will separate the family.

Nim’Raza also chooses Sura Keth and Va’Lira to travel under her claim. Sura is selected for her extraordinary ability to hear what others miss, while Va’Lira is a quiet child associated with the sixth tower. Zuberi touches Razhaku’s back while Nim’Raza holds him between them, and the parents share a final farewell before the gate opens.

Nim’Raza then walks through the gate with Razhaku, Sura and Va’Lira. The stone closes behind them, preventing the rest of the family from following.

Aftermath in Khar’Rukan

Razhaku does not appear directly again in the childhood narrative after entering the gate, but his absence remains prominent.

On the road back to Khar’Rukan, Zuberi rides with empty arms. Rimitorry remembers that he had always carried Razhaku as both precious and dangerous to surrender into another person’s care, even while discussing strategy or standing before feared warriors. The emptiness left by the child becomes the clearest expression of Zuberi’s grief.

The family returns to an intact empire and an empty sixth tower. Later references group Razhaku’s departure with the loss of Nim’Raza, Sura and Va’Lira. His removal helps mark the moment when the Six become Five and when victory in the Arena becomes inseparable from separation.

Life in Terra

The novels do not describe Razhaku’s full childhood after he passes through the Arena gate.

By the later events of Tribal Bloody Beginnings, he has grown into a young man living in Terra beside Nim’Raza. The narrator estimates that he is approximately sixteen. His presence confirms that he survived the journey out of Murder Island and remained with his mother during the intervening years.

The text does not explain what happened to Sura Keth or Va’Lira during the same period, where Razhaku was educated, whether he trained as a warrior or how much contact he had with the rest of his family.

Chapter 23: “The Nightmare”

Razhaku appears in Chapter 23, “The Nightmare,” the final narrative chapter of Tribal Bloody Beginnings, during the confrontation with Deathwave in Terra. The book’s glossary separately confirms that he is Nim’Raza and Zuberi’s son and that he is revealed near the end of the story.

After Deathwave defeats or wounds several of the children and their allies, Nim’Raza arrives and drives him away from Eshari. Razhaku stands behind his mother and watches. The narrator identifies him as Nim’Raza and Zuberi’s son and as a cousin of the children fighting in the clearing.

Nim’Raza defeats Deathwave but leaves the final action to the younger fighters. Jabari Nthanda opens a portal connecting the battlefield to Conri’s throne room. Through it, Zuberi sees Nim’Raza among the children and recognizes Razhaku standing at her side.

The sight confirms to Zuberi that his son is alive. It also places Razhaku on the side of the children and rebels opposing Conri’s immediate plan. When Conri accuses Nim’Raza of standing on the wrong side, she declares that she stands with the children.

Razhaku does not speak or fight during the confrontation. After the portal closes, Nim’Raza heads toward the fortress and her post near the gates of Terra. Razhaku follows her, looking back once at the cousins he has never truly known.

Relationships

Nim’Raza

Nim’Raza is Razhaku’s mother.

Their relationship is shown primarily through physical protection. She carries him against her shoulder, keeps him in a sling during council, takes him when the road becomes dangerous and fights without releasing him during the attack at Red Stone Pass.

Nim’Raza’s usual emotional restraint makes her farewell with Razhaku especially important. After surviving the Arena, she shows fear not of her wounds or of Terra but of leaving the family. She takes Razhaku into her arms before selecting the other children who will travel with her.

Her decision to bring him is treated as immediate and unquestioned. Razhaku is not merely one of the children under her command; he is her son.

Years later, Razhaku remains at Nim’Raza’s side in Terra. He stands behind her when she intervenes against Deathwave and follows her toward the fortress after the battle. His quiet, patient presentation also resembles her controlled temperament.

Zuberi

Zuberi is Razhaku’s father.

The childhood novel uses Razhaku to reveal feelings Zuberi normally conceals. Zuberi believes love can become a weakness when displayed to enemies, but he carries his son openly after the Calling horns sound. During the Arena matches, changes in how tightly he holds the baby expose fear that his controlled expression does not show.

Zuberi remains on Murder Island when Nim’Raza and Razhaku leave. His empty arms during the return journey become one of the novel’s strongest images of grief and demonstrate that the Calling’s price is paid by those who remain as well as those who depart.

In Chapter 23 of Tribal Bloody Beginnings, a portal allows Zuberi to see Nim’Raza and the now-adolescent Razhaku in Terra. Zuberi reaches toward his blade and stops when he recognizes his wife and son standing among the children. The portal closes before the novel shows a direct conversation or reunion between father and son.

Sura Keth

Sura Keth is one of the two other children who leave Murder Island with Razhaku and Nim’Raza.

Before the Calling, Sura is part of the younger palace generation and is shaped by Nim’Raza’s quiet discipline. Nim’Raza selects her because she hears what other people miss and belongs within the developing legacy of the sixth tower.

The novel does not describe Sura as Razhaku’s biological sibling. Their bond is best understood through shared upbringing, household ties and the journey they begin together.

Va’Lira

Va’Lira is a quiet sixth-tower child who departs with Razhaku, Sura and Nim’Raza.

She is described as claimed by the tower rather than born from Nim’Raza’s blood. Her inclusion beside Razhaku demonstrates that the family of the Six-Flame Palace is formed through multiple kinds of belonging.

The novels do not reveal the later relationship among the three children after their departure. Sura and Va’Lira are not shown beside Razhaku during his Chapter 23 appearance.

The palace children and Red Heirs

Razhaku grows up around the larger group of children raised in the Six-Flame Palace.

These include blood heirs, rescued children and claimed children who gradually become known as the Red Heirs. He is present at councils and family movements involving Rimitorry, Eshari, Sakori, Polezah, Nahla, Kovi, Sura, Veyu, Zafira and Khalembo.

Because he is still a baby, Razhaku is not shown training with the Red Heirs, joining their rescue missions or receiving a defined place in their combat formation. The safest canonical description is that he belongs to the palace family surrounding the Red Heirs, not that he is already an operational member of the unit.

Rimitorry, Eshari, Sakori, Zafira and Khalembo

The narrator of Tribal Bloody Beginnings identifies the children fighting alongside Jabari as Razhaku’s cousins.

Razhaku does not appear to know them well. The families were separated when he left Murder Island as an infant, and the novel does not establish regular contact during the following years. After the Chapter 23 confrontation, he looks back once at the cousins he has barely known before following Nim’Raza toward the fortress.

His presence creates a new connection between Nim’Raza’s Terra household and the adult children shaped by Murder Island. The novel leaves their future relationship unresolved.

Abilities

No supernatural, martial or Ka’ru ability is confirmed for Razhaku.

He does not speak, fight, display a weapon or perform a feat that can reliably be interpreted as a power in either known appearance. His parentage may invite speculation about inherited abilities, but the novels do not establish that children automatically inherit the specialties of their parents.

Descriptions of Razhaku as a future warrior, assassin, commander, shadow fighter or Ka’ru user are therefore non-canonical unless supported by later material.

Role within the Ka’Rukan family

Razhaku has no confirmed political office or military rank.

His importance comes from family position:

The books do not describe him as an heir to a throne, tower or military command. Ka’Rukan’s political system also does not operate like the soft-land monarchies described elsewhere in the narrative, so birth alone should not be treated as proof of a succession title.

Protected innocence

Razhaku represents a form of innocence that remains present inside an environment built around warfare and survival.

He sleeps while adults plan a campaign, wakes during violent competition and is physically carried through spaces where nearly everyone else is armed. His lack of understanding does not remove danger; it makes the adults’ duty of protection more visible.

Love made visible

Razhaku exposes emotions his parents usually hide.

Nim’Raza’s care is visible in her constant physical control, while Zuberi’s care emerges through the rare decision to display attachment publicly. The child becomes evidence that their silence is not a lack of love.

The cost of the Calling

The Terra Commander Calling gives Nim’Raza a victory and a path away from Murder Island, but it divides Razhaku’s immediate family.

He leaves with his mother while his father remains behind. Because Razhaku is too young to choose or understand the separation, the scene emphasizes how decisions made under ancient law affect children who have no voice in them.

Blood, claim and household

The departure group presents three forms of family at once:

• Razhaku is Nim’Raza’s biological son;
• Sura is shaped by her teaching;
• Va’Lira is claimed by her tower.

Together, they reinforce one of the central ideas of the novel: family within the Tribal Universe can be formed by blood, rescue, instruction, loyalty and deliberate claim.

The empty arms

After Razhaku leaves, the narrative focuses on Zuberi’s arms rather than on a speech.

The image transforms absence into something physically visible. Razhaku’s small body once occupied the space Zuberi used to protect what he valued. When that space becomes empty, the loss appears heavier than the child ever was.

The Six becoming Five

Razhaku’s departure is part of the event that empties the sixth tower and reduces the ruling Six to Five.

Although Nim’Raza’s absence changes the political structure most directly, the loss of Razhaku, Sura and Va’Lira shows that an entire household and future generation have also been removed from daily life in Khar’Rukan.

Separation and return

Razhaku connects the childhood history in Rimitorry: Daughter of the Dark Alpha to the later conflict in Tribal Bloody Beginnings.

He leaves Murder Island before he can know the palace children closely. When he reappears as an adolescent, he stands among relatives who recognize his family position but have not shared his upbringing. His single backward glance at his cousins captures both connection and distance.

Divided family loyalties

The portal in Chapter 23 places Razhaku and Zuberi on opposite sides of a visible conflict.

Zuberi remains in Conri’s throne room while Razhaku stands beside Nim’Raza and the children in Terra. The scene does not establish that Razhaku personally rejects his father. Instead, it shows how the larger family has been divided by geography, command and competing ideas of protection.

Status and future

Razhaku is alive in his latest confirmed appearance.

At the end of Chapter 23 of Tribal Bloody Beginnings, he follows Nim’Raza toward the Terra fortress after the confrontation with Deathwave. Nim’Raza intends to defend the gates of Terra and prepare for Conri’s eventual arrival.

The novel does not reveal Razhaku’s next action, formal role in that defense or eventual fate.
