Tribal Brown, professionally known in music as Tribal Young Brown and also called Young Brown or Brown, is an American hip-hop artist, record producer, songwriter, and dark fantasy author. He is the principal music and literary identity of Tony James Nelson II and the founder of the independent label Roovet Records, based in Jacksonville, Florida.

Brown began releasing music in 2022 with singles including “Consider This,” “Hit Me on IG,” “Enemies,” and “End Game.” His later releases included “Tribe Queen,” “Ah Yeah,” and the studio album Red Rose in 2025.

As an author, he publishes fiction under the name Tribal Brown. His books include Tribal Bloody Beginnings, the first book in The Dark Alpha series and a foundational story in the Tribal Universe, and Rimitorry: Daughter of the Dark Alpha, the first book in the Children of the Dark Alpha series.

Writing and the Tribal Universe

Under the pen name Tribal Brown, Nelson expanded his creative work into dark fantasy fiction. He created the Tribal Universe, a fictional setting centered on bloodlines, tribal empires, warrior societies, supernatural energy, sacred texts, family, conquest, survival, and the consequences of power.

The foundational novel, Tribal Bloody Beginnings, was published by Roovet Books on July 1, 2026. The 229-page digital edition is available in PDF and EPUB formats and is identified as Book One of The Dark Alpha series.

The novel follows Thirty-Two, a numbered member of the Nebu Wolf Tribe who becomes the proctor and witness to the rise of the Dark Alpha. The story introduces characters including Rimitorry, Utrea, Deathwave, Khalembo, Doctor Polezah, and the Five. It also develops concepts including Ka'ru, the Tribal Bible, Nebu, Gia, Murder Island, and the Ka’Rukan Empire.

The book is written as an adult dark fantasy origin story involving tribal warfare, supernatural power, ancient secrets, political violence, family bloodlines, and the transformation of Thirty-Two from an obedient instrument of the Tribe into an increasingly powerful magic user.

Rimitorry: Daughter of the Dark Alpha

Brown followed the first novel with Rimitorry: Daughter of the Dark Alpha, published by Roovet Books on July 11, 2026.

The 352-page young adult dark fantasy novel is Book One of the Children of the Dark Alpha series. It follows Rimitorry Ka’ Tora during her childhood and adolescence on Murder Island, before the creation of the later Nebu Wolf Tribe order.

The story explores Rimitorry's kidnapping, her life within the growing Ka’Rukan Empire, her relationships with Eshari, Polezah, Khalembo, Sakori, and other children of the empire, and her developing ability to use Ka’ru. Rimitorry fights with twin chakrams and learns that Ka’ru can increase through training, combat, suffering, and the taking of power from defeated warriors.

The novel expands the history of the Dark Alpha's family and presents the childhood origins of characters and conflicts that later become important to the wider Tribal Universe.

Nelson's Roovet Books author catalog also includes comics and illustrated adaptations connected with the Tribal Universe.
