The Blood of Nebu is a supernatural substance used in the departure ritual following Nebu's Calling in Eshari: Daughter of the Dark Alpha. Its appearance combines red-black dust with liquid movement inside a bowl. It is part of a covenant with Nebu rather than an ordinary medical treatment.[1]
Covenant and departure
After the Dark One, Knargz and Zuberi win the Calling, the ritual binds the winners and the companions permitted to leave with them. The warning attached to the substance concerns betrayal of the tribe and punishment acting within the person who has accepted it.[1]
The departing group consists of Conri Tora, Knargz, Zuberi, Polezah, Eshari, Zafira, Khalembo, Kovi Renn, Nahla Voss and Veyu Orak. Their shared acceptance belongs to the final passage out of Murder Island, following the assignment of Alpha, Bote and Commander to the three victors.[1]
Limits of the event
Yanna does not depart with this group. She retains responsibility for the empire, with Makhera, Seyra Vhal and Ashmouth remaining in her circle. The departure list therefore does not include every member of the family or every person who survived the imperial campaigns.[1]
The substance's covenant role is separate from Ka’ru healing, from a dampener's regulation of power and from the ordinary biological relationships within the household. Receiving it does not make the claimed companions biological children of the victors.[1]
