Proctor (Tribal Universe)

The proctor is a fictional witness and keeper of records in the Tribal Universe. Thirty-Two receives the position from The Dark Alpha in Tribal Bloody Beginnings: The Rise of the Dark Alpha. The appointment gives a previously numbered operative access to the ruler, the den's records and information hidden from ordinary wolves.

Responsibilities and protection

The proctor is expected to observe, remember and carry the tribe's truth. He is repeatedly warned against interference. Protection attached to the office is intended to preserve the witness, although powerful characters test or manipulate that protection. The previous holder is described as a woman who served for decades before disappearing; her personal name and ultimate fate are not established.

Kavumo explains that the duty reaches beyond one ruler or one tribe. Thirty-Two's record-keeping responsibilities are therefore wider than personal service to Nebu's Alpha. His appointment should not be described as proof that he graduated from the Thirteen Chambers or became a military commander.

Thirty-Two's tenure

Access to the library reveals the Deathwave program, the history of the Harpies and the concealed account in Dark Justice. The proctor also encounters the Tribal Bible and begins using its spells. Knowledge gradually becomes a means of action, placing the command to witness without interfering in conflict with his relationships and choices.

At the Training Tower Incident, he uses a mind-control spell to send forty-five trainees against Khalembo. The resulting deaths show that he has become an active participant rather than a passive observer. His later escape with Rimitorry further changes the relationship between his title and obedience to the den.

Identity

“Proctor” is an office, “Thirty-Two” an imposed number, and “Jabari Nthanda” the name Rimitorry gives him. None should be substituted for a confirmed birth identity that the supplied story does not recover. The distinctions matter to a narrative in which records can preserve truth while institutions erase the people who carry it.
