Orran Malk is a fictional warrior in the Tribal Universe who travels with Vaelor Dren and Thessa Varr. The three appear together when Eshari encounters them during her wilderness trial in Eshari: Daughter of the Dark Alpha.[1]

Background

Vaelor explains that five people survived their passage through the Thirteen Chambers. One later found a Calling and another died. The three remaining companions continue moving through Murder Island. Their group belongs to a separate cohort from the founders of the Ka’Rukan Empire.[1]

Encounter with Eshari

Orran is introduced near a broken bell and water, with a shaved head with dark markings, a broad build and a hide vest. The apparent age offered by Eshari is an estimate rather than an exact birth record. When Eshari attacks, the companions coordinate to defeat her without killing her.[1]

Orran uses his hammer to strike the buried bell and disrupt Eshari's balance. He also channels Ka’ru into a blade to make it too heavy for her to control. After the fight he catches her as blood loss weakens her and returns her knife with its grip offered first.[1]

Departure

While Vaelor stays to teach Eshari healing, Orran and Thessa leave to investigate a fighter beyond Widow's Teeth who is said to turn arrows with his voice. They remain alive at departure. The chapter later recounts Vaelor's death, but does not establish a corresponding fate for either companion.[1]

The supplied books give no confirmed parentage, spouse, exact age or tribal office for Orran Malk. Those fields cannot be inferred from membership in Vaelor's traveling group.[1]
