Sevrak Noll is a fictional antagonist in Eshari: Daughter of the Dark Alpha, part of the Tribal Universe. An older survivor of the Thirteen Chambers, he hunts people who have lived through extreme danger so that he can take the power their survival has produced. He kills Vaelor Dren and is subsequently killed by Eshari.[1]

Appearance and abilities

Sevrak is thin, with shoulder-length gray hair and black plates covering one arm from the fingers to the neck. He carries a narrow spear with a sharpened bone point. The description does not give him a precise age, family or political allegiance.[1]

His principal advantage is the ability to make his Ka’ru current disappear between strikes. Opponents who depend on sensing power can misread an attack even while his body remains visible. He also heals severe wounds and can close his flesh around a weapon, trapping it inside his body long enough to counterattack.[1]

Pursuit of Vaelor and Eshari

Vaelor recognizes Sevrak as a survivor from an earlier opening, not a member of his own cohort. He warns Eshari that wanting an enemy's power does not mean she can defeat him. Their first confrontation leaves them injured beneath a collapsed hillside. Working together, they escape and use healing techniques to recover enough to continue.[1]

Sevrak finds them again. During the fight, Vaelor intercepts the bone spear intended for Eshari and dies from a wound she cannot repair. Sevrak gains his victim's Ka’ru, increasing the threat he poses to her.[1]

Defeat

Eshari stops relying only on Ka’ru perception. She reads physical movement through displaced splinters and falling rain, then uses her new knowledge of healing offensively against Sevrak. His ability to close an external wound does not protect him from damage she creates inside his body. She kills him and takes the power accumulated within him, including Vaelor's stolen current.[1]

The encounter establishes both the value and limits of Eshari's new skills. She can defeat a regenerative opponent by understanding his body, but cannot reverse Vaelor's death. Sevrak's defeat therefore accompanies a permanent loss rather than erasing it.[1]
