Stone Mouth Caves
The Stone Mouth Caves are a fictional cave system in the Tribal Universe. They appear during the Red Heirs' campaigns against the Root-Eaters and later serve as a meeting point for separated imperial forces.[1][2]
Root-Eater trap
Root-Eaters trap the entrance and wait for the heirs to approach. Veyu Orak identifies a second tunnel, applying the strategic lessons Zuberi has taught him. The episode emphasizes observation and an alternative route rather than overpowering a trap by charging directly into it.[1]
The caves are one of several named encounters in the continuing campaign, alongside Blackvine Ford and Red Hollow. These locations belong to successive actions against surviving hostile groups rather than one battle with interchangeable names.[1]
Meeting of the forces
In Eshari's account, her group meets Rimitorry's seventy near the caves. Rimitorry has lost no one, while the returning party carries three dead soldiers. She asks for their names. Sakori identifies Orven and mentions his daughters, Maela and Tori, making the reunion an accounting of people as well as units.[2]
