The Six Flames, also called the Six, are the six founding rulers of the Ka’Rukan Empire in the Tribal Universe. The group consists of the Dark One, Utrea, Kavumo, Knargz, Zuberi and Nim’Raza. Their household governs from the Six-Flame Palace in Khar’Rukan.[1][2]

Five, six and eight

The Five is the established name for the first five listed rulers. Nim’Raza's intelligence work and less visible position help explain why the public legend continues to emphasize five. Inside the household she holds an equal place. Eshari insists on adding her tower to the palace plan, and the founders require that no tower stand higher than another.[2][3]

The six rulers are also not the entire cohort that survived their Chambers. Makhera explains that eight emerged, of whom six remained together. Seyra Vhal is later identified as the eighth survivor. Their shared earlier ordeal does not make Makhera and Seyra members of the palace's original six-seat government.[4][5]

Government and household

The six contribute different skills to the empire: combat, protection, logistics, strategy, intelligence and discipline. Their children learn from more than one adult. The resulting family includes biological children, claimed children and later bonds made through marriage and blood-law. Membership in the Red Heirs is a separate question from membership in the founding household.[1][6][7]

Ashmouth supplies public names and religious rhetoric, while Ma’Kela and the acquired workers give the household a permanent architectural form. The creation of a home for its children occurs alongside resource seizure and coerced labor. The six's care for their own family does not erase those methods.[2]

Separation

Nim’Raza's departure through Terra's Commander Calling is the first departure among the six rulers. Kavumo later leaves as Terra's Alpha, Utrea leaves for Gia, and the remaining three eventually win Nebu's Calling. The palace and empire continue through the leadership of Eshari and Yanna; the dispersal of the founders does not itself prove the destruction of their capital.[8][9][10]
