Havarek
Havarek is a fictional resident of Halvek in the Tribal Universe and the father who raises Yanna. Rimitorry kills him during the destruction of the village. His name later becomes part of the public memorial established during Halvek's reconstruction.[1][2]
Family and village
Yanna's relationship with the father who raises her is central to her identification with Halvek. The later revelation that Makhera is her biological mother does not erase that earlier family. Death
When Halvek refuses workers for the eastern road, Rimitorry's response becomes a massacre. Havarek dies and Yanna is deliberately left alive to carry the story. The loss helps define Yanna's hostility toward Rimitorry even after she marries Sakori and forms new family bonds.[1][4]
Memorial
The later reconstruction of Halvek preserves the identity of the destroyed community. Yanna gives Havarek's name when it is needed for the memorial, placing the man who raised her into the empire's public memory. The act joins personal grief to the rebuilding of a community rather than treating reconstruction as a reversal of his death.[2]
