The Split-Tooth Wells are a fictional location in Eshari: Daughter of the Dark Alpha. A report that Makhera has been seen there draws Eshari and members of her household west during the search for Yanna. Sakori's account records the search party's departure from the people left waiting in Khar’Rukan.[1][2]
Location
Two ridges resemble a broken jaw around the wells. Roofless huts and old ash are the remains of a settlement, and a rotten rope offers little confidence in the surviving water supply. An unusually placed footprint warns Eshari that someone has arranged the approach.[1]
Search and battle
Makhera reunites with Knargz and Zuberi while seeking her biological daughter. The search becomes a confrontation with Selka Nine-Cuts, Vhorin and Oth Marr, older Chamber survivors whose coordinated fighting overwhelms the younger participants. Eshari identifies the recurring timing in their movements, helping the older family members counter it.[1]
Reth Vaun appears after the first three attackers die, intending to take the power newly absorbed by their opponents. The Dark One and Utrea arrive, and the combined family eventually kills him. The violence collapses the well, damages the ridge and alters the surrounding landscape.[1]
Divine encounter
Nebu appears at the ruined well after the battle. His healing, deceptions and gifts of dampeners introduce a different order of power into the search. His presence does not settle Yanna's fate; her eventual recovery occurs later in Eshari's journey.[1][3]
