Sava is a fictional teacher and healer in Sakori: Son of the Dark Alpha. She receives Sakori and Yanna at a temple on Murder Island during their wilderness journey, admitting them as individual warriors rather than as representatives of an imperial family.[1]

Temple and instruction

Sava enforces a rule that fighting requires the consent of both participants. Inside the circle of twelve statues, shaped Ka’ru encounters less of the pressure that disrupts it elsewhere on the island. She corrects Sakori when he mistakes that relief for the temple adding energy to his body.[1]

She explains that the statues anchor the power of twelve living gods who keep their father sealed. She supplies enough information to identify the binding and its effects while refusing to explain every part of its operation. Her worship does not imply a wish for mortals to break the seal.[1]

Healing and fire

Sava tends Sakori's injured thigh and teaches both visitors to close small wounds. The exercises emphasize listening to the body, applying limited energy and maintaining contact. Sakori initially burns Yanna by releasing too much power; later he succeeds by matching a smaller current to her pulse. Yanna also learns but becomes depleted after healing.[1]

Fire lessons begin with a wick. Sava extinguishes Sakori's uncontrolled flare and requires him to produce a small, deliberate flame. Further exercises cover heat, water and recovering shaped energy before it consumes more than intended. Healing and spells still cost Ka’ru inside the temple.[1]

Mercy and departure

Using Yanna's swords, No Mercy and No Surrender, Sava distinguishes personal resolve from judgment of a defeated enemy. She teaches that mercy can be an exercise of strength, while also recognizing enemies who exploit it to harm others. The sword's name cannot make that decision for its wielder.[1]

When the visitors leave on their tenth morning, Sava refuses payment and gives Yanna healing paste. A failed spark beyond the statues provides a final demonstration: the island can destroy a spell without returning the energy spent to create it.[1]
